Pricecheck named Export Champion
Sheffield based wholesaler and distributor Pricecheck has been named as a Northern Powerhouse Export Champion for 2019 by the Department for International Trade.
Pricecheck, an international distributor of fast-moving consumer goods, is trusted by the world's biggest brands, offering more than 4,500 branded products to customers in the UK and worldwide.
The fast-growing business now operates in more than 80 countries but still manages to retain its bespoke and personal approach.
Exports have grown significantly in recent years following the introduction of a proactive and tailored approach, supported by the Department for International Trade and implemented by dedicated Pricecheck staff.
In just six years, exports have increased from £8.8m in 2012 to £32.3m in 2018. Export now accounts for almost half of total turnover.
Pricecheck’s Joint Managing Director Debbie Harrison will be attending the Export Champion Launch Day in Durham today, Thursday, February 28, where this year’s Export Champions will be addressed by Secretary of State for International Trade the RT Hon Dr Liam Fox MP.
Export Champions help share their success stories for export and international trade along with peer to peer support and advice to other local exporters, who are all committed to achieving a strong Northern Powerhouse.
Debbie Harrison commented: “Our exporting success is down to the hard work of the team. Exporting is more challenging than trading domestically but for the extra effort, businesses focused on export can reap significant rewards.
“Our sales team attend international trade shows and engage in overseas visits to build relationships with our customers, offering an excellent bespoke customer service along with competitive pricing. We’ve exhibited at a major trade fair in Cologne this week, we’re at Cosmoprof in Bologna, Italy, next week and we’ve got a team visiting the ASD Market Week Show in Las Vegas later in March.
“Exports now account for more than 45% of total turnover which is in excess of £80m, so we’re thrilled to have received this accolade and look forward to sharing our knowledge.”
